Skills
« on: January 08, 2015, 06:59:39 AM »

Previously in JC I asked whether people were interested in helping out getting the HoW back on its feet again. Some were interested. It's difficult to ask people to help you if you don't know what they can help you with. So please let us know whether you have any skills that could be of use to us. For example: Are you a code monkey (Php? Css? Something else?) or are you in the advertising world?  Do you know how to use graphical programs and/or are you an artist? And so on.

Like you would do on your resume, state what kind of experience you have exactly and for how long. So we have some sort of idea how experienced you are in your skill(s).

Thanks for sharing!

I want to start by saying that I am unsure if I will be staying around yet, but this is a grand goal worthy of at least my attention.

I have worked* and played constantly with graphics and the web for... must be 20 years now?
Most of my coding/back-end experience is so outdated as to be essentially irrelevant for forums (html and dhtml), I have however been running my own small role-playing forum constantly for 9 years now. This involved way too much CSS (it is the devil) and my own personal image designs (the site is currently mostly graphicless as I prefer the simple text on black look, but has previously had a full set of personalised buttons.

Graphically speaking, I have worked with Paintshop Pro, GIMP, dabbled in Photoshop, and of course MS Paint when desperate.

As I say I don't know if I'll be sticking around yet, but if I can help I am willing to. You just might have to prod/remind me on facebook or steam, phone or message me perhaps if you know how, or even track me down in person and prod me with a moderately sharp stick.

* worked as in I performed tasks, no employment in the field. I never wanted it.

I was here but now I'm gone.

Good, then you supplement each other, not?

Perhaps Syrion, if you would list your likes and dislikes as well as experience, it would help others with pointing out where they can supplement you?

I doubt I'll be of much use since we're all readers here and pretty good with our spelling and grammar, but I am a professional freelance editor these days, so always available to do some proofreading or copyediting if it's needed. Have been doing it about five years now for all sorts of things, but mostly big construction tenders for state projects.
