Jimmy and the Crawler
« on: January 07, 2012, 08:40:45 PM »

In a year in which Ray will be releasing the penultimate book in his Riftwar Cycle, fans will be relieved to hear that more books set in Midkemia will follow in the future.

Magician's End had been expected to be the final novel in the series, but Ray has another in store. Revealed on his Facebook feed, the writer announced that he's finally working on 'Jimmy and the Crawler'. The story is the long-awaited conclusion to the Riftwar Legacy series of books.

It is planned to be a purely digital release, but collector's print editions are in discussion.

In other words, Ray suddenly realized that scoring another easy paycheck off Midkemia was a much more worthy route than creating something new. But hey, we finally get a conclusion to Feist's worst series...

All writers work for a paycheck, they're professionals. Ray is no different. On the matter of creating something new, I'm sure he has other ideas in store, but he has fun writing in Midkemia, so why begrude him that? His publishers and fans are happy he continues.

I didn't say a paycheck, did I? I said an easy paycheck. Sounds about right though, revisiting his worst-written series long after he stopped giving a shit about the quality of his work. No one will be able to tell the difference.

All authors perform for a income, they're experts. Ray is no different. On the issue of developing something new, I'm sure he has other thoughts in shop, but he has fun composing in Midkemia, so why begrude him that? His marketers and lovers are satisfied he carries on.
