Aeon Flux - The Movie
« on: July 13, 2005, 05:38:46 AM »

I saw on the Sci-Fi website that there was an official site for the upcoming Aeon Flux movie.  I thought we had started talking about it here, but I couldn't find a thread in my searches.

Anyway, while I had modestly high hopes that Charlize Theron would be able to pull this off, I've got to say that what I've seen on the website screams double extra cheesy bad.

Take a look at the gallery and you'll see what I mean.

You're right it does look a bit cheesy, but that won't bother me. It's still going to be Charlize Theron in tight outfits in all kind of positions...... i think it will be in big blockbuster. :)

yeah
big amongst hollywood moviegoers who are unfortunately most of the population.

I daresay any fans of the original show will hate this... I just watched the flash on the site and even just from that it seems so... hollywoodie... and a goddam videogame coming out?

Ah man....this doesn't look good. Hopefully we'll see some more encouraging stuff before it's released.

Don't forget, those are just pub shots, the majority are posed and not even part of the movie.  They look like plain old 35mm photos.  I agree that in simple photos it looks bad, but once they put it all together to make it look dark and shiny, it won't look so bad unless the movie sucks.  I'd compare it to watching deleted scenes on a dvd.  Those scenes are not as "Polished" as the movie.

To be fair, considering the source material it was going to be rather hard adapting the series to the big screen.

Theron is a talented actress and although she has not made the best choices in films (The Italian Job) for the most part her films have been entertaining so I have some faith in this film at the moment.

The posters for the film are amazing too.

Fair enough, but I don't think there's anyting short of major digital editing that can save us from that abysmal outfit she's wearing.  It's niether sexy nor really functional looking with the way it is cut.  And the coloring of it (I know, it's black, but it's a dull flat black) makes it look like something out of a high school play.

I just came from the official site, and I must say that I too and not impressed.
The customes looked cheesy. That one small clip in the begining thats was mixed in with the animation, made me think was going to be a comedy it was SO lame.
I can say right now that I will not be going to see this, I will what till it comes out on DVD. I won't rent I will just wiat till one of my friends rents it, so as not to give them my money.

I just checked out the trailer (quite long too), and it looks like it might be entertaining, but probably not that good. I've seen the game trailer too...it looks a bit more appealing.

I will wait till this comes out on DVD I think. It looks terrible, and I can't see Charlize Theron as an action heroine, sorry.

The movie is out now in the US, has anyone seen it? If so what did you think? The reviews have not been great, though the trailer looked ok in my view.

I watched the movie tonight and was not that impressed, not clear in places and the storyline was not that good anyway. Some decent actions sequences and Charlize Theron was looking very attractive in some extreamly tight costumes.

Really, the film was doomed before it began. Trying to replicate the original anime series is just impossible. The anime is so...insanely bizzare...its impossible to effectively reproduce with human actors and live sets.

Oh well. The anime is awesome, so if anyone is interested, check that out.
