Has anyone read these books. Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen. They are quite interesting...to begin with anyway. A very original interpreation of magic as well. Takes a bit to understand though :P

Yes I have read them, I really enjoyed them and yes, the magic aspect was very well done. Have you read 'The Creature In The Case' as well?
But, why did you say that it takes a bit to understand? :elf_dead:

p.s. The end of Sabrael was EXCELLENT! lol, books have to have good endings otherwise it spoils the whole book for me.    :elf_dead:

I'm about a chapter into Sabriel, and so far it seems pretty good.

My problem is I'm juggling this book, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter 5 and some Michael Crighton book at the same time...plus I'm studying a Microsoft book, so the going is slow  :elf_gloop:

I beleive there was a topic on Garth Nix a while ago... but its disappeared now...

...But yes I have read the first two... Was about to read Abohrson but got distracted by another book.  Will finish the series soon though.  I really loved the free magic and charter magic things.  Its alot different to other books I read and I liked the necromacy thing with the bells.

I started reading sabriel a couple of days ago. So far the book's been really interesting. It was a bit confusing a first but it's getting clearer now. The charter magic is an interesting idea.

It's after the other three. Hang on, I'll write down what the blurb is:

"It is six months since the cataclysmic events of Abhorsen, six months Nicholas Sayre has spent recovering in Ancelstierre. But he is desperate to return to the old kingdom, and at last he has his chance.
All he has to do is spend a weekend in a country house as a favour for his Uncle Edward, Chief Minister of Ancelstierre. That seems easy enough, till he discovers that the house holds many secrets, and the worst of them is a relic of the old kingdom, too far from the Wall for any spark of it's magical life to reignite.
Unless someone fonds a way to unleash its power..."

That's it, word for word. It's very short, I finished it in about half an hour, but its still pretty good.

As this topic is kinda about Garth Nix as a whole (see topic title), has anyone read Mister Monday and Grim Tuesday? I have to say, I really enjoyed those.
