So, Ron Moore came out and said what those of us even half-way familiar with the genre already knew
. Personally, I hadn't imagined it would be on this kind of level, but there we have it. Tech the tech.
It does raise some ponderings, though, over how we actually want our SF to be. Charlie Stross has already gotten his end in on the subject - click here
to check that out. I agree with most of what he has to say, however I still find Next Generation a fine show to watch, even with all the tech-babble.
Although, for a program to truly pique my interest, I'd prefer they sway a little away from all the tech-babble, and just embrace the nothingness of space, life, etc and just focus on existential issues, which SF can heighten to another level that the other genres just can't reach.
But it does beg the question, how do you like your SF fix?
