Who would win the fight?
« on: May 24, 2005, 05:50:31 PM »

Who do you think would win in a fight to the death between Obi Won and Anakin Skywalker (Aka Darth Vader)?

I know we've seen them fight twice or some of you mabye only the once if you haven't seen both films.
But if they were put in a arena like in the game Jedi Knight 2, who do you think would win?
I personally think Obi Won would win.

Please be careful in what you say and remember to use spoilers

Hmm, I think that Anakin won. For anyone who has seen Ep. 4, you'd kinda know too

Obi Wan would win I think.

Why? Altough Obi Wan sais in Ep. 1 Anakin is stronger in the force he is the superior swordfighter of them both. (Then again, in a one to one battle Darth Maul would beat both of them.)

Sure, Darth Anakin killed Obi One in Ep. 4, but Obi Wan dropped his defences on purpose, leaving him defenceless.

He has never lost a whole arm, but most of both.

Remember Obi-Wan killed Maul in Ep.1 and it wasn't just a chance of luck. Also I believe it's in Ep.2 he says that to Anakin.

I think Darth Vader would have killed Obi-Wan regardless of him letting or not in Ep.4 - Kenobi was weak at that stage. But in both of their primes I think Anakin would eventually prevail.

I think obi would win, cos I dont think anakin would be able to finish him off very quickly and lose his cool..... not that he has much cool. but yeah anakin would get frustrated nd do something stupid.

also i think obi was much more powerful in ep 3 than 1 so i think he could of tken maul in a one on 1

I agree that it is anger that would finally cause Anakin to stop thinking.
Spoiler: show
In ep.III Anakin overestimaes himself because he is blinded by anger, while Obiwan keeps his cool: thus anakin loses his legs. In III an older Darth Vader keeps his wits and does not let emotions rule his fighting. As a fencer I know that anger is always a bad thing. If you lose your temper you lose.

a Fencer? Then surely you have heard of controlled rage? Using the positive affects...the speed, the instant focus. Blocking out the negative... like.....the....un..focus?

My point (if anyone bothered to read this far) is that not all rage is bad in a fight. A controlled temper can work in ones favour more often than not.

well yes; but that's what being in controll of your anger is all about isn't it? It's not about removing all anger, but about taking away the negative sides of the anger and using the edge it gives. You are right that I spoke eratically: anger is not always a bad thing; it can be used if it is controlled.

People say that anger clouds judgement, and they are right. But if you can controll your anger you can use the positive side effects for you advantage.

But I wouldn't say that Anakin has any controll left over his anger, just before Obi Wan makes him a foot shorter. :)

Anakin was also...VERY confused. That tends to make people act erratically.

The Beserkers were also just plain scary, you see a band of men who stand about a head and a half taller than everything else wielding great axes or swords in one hand....IF anyone actually stayed around to fight, the Beserkers were strong enough to shrug off a few hits without suffereing any long term affects...having meat on ya does do good sometimes.

yeah, they also had a great rage to call up...but somehow i think it was still a controlled burst of anger, theyd been doing it for so long...how could they not have learnt to control the negative side affects of it?
