Mistborn is a trilogy of trilogies, with the second trilogy in an urban (20th-century-level technology) setting.

Interesting. Normally I would say that's a horrible idea. However, having read the series I would have to say that I think that actually might be a workable idea. I'd even go so far as to say thats a good idea given the overarching plot line and where he was going with the story. Given that I enjoyed the Mistborn series as much as I did, I would read that.

5 years on, and Brandon Sanderson is the new hotness in fantasy. He came to a con near me about 5 years ago, and I was pretty cut that I couldn't go, next time he comes to Australia I won't miss it. I like his stories a lot, and they've generally been getting better with each book. Though where he really shines is in his worldbuilding, with most of his books being in the same universe and a very specific system for how his magic works that a lot of fans have fun trying to piece together his unified theory with the scraps of information given in each book, which I'm not fully invested in to the extent that some people on his forums are, but I definitely like to come up with some small theories about how different aspects of how things work. I'm definitely also really happy with his output, with one book 2 weeks ago, and another in January, he's generally pretty quick about it.

As an aside, I'm also very happy with the way he finished off Wheel of Time, obviously we can't say how it would have been with Mr Jordan, but getting an end was all we could hope for really.
