And if so, what do you think of their quality compared to traditionally published books?

I generally read anything that appeals to me. I don't know if any books I have bought have been self published but the app/website I've been talking about, Wattpad, has a lot of authors who have or are in the process of self publishing. Some of them are very well put together.

Short answer:

Long answer:

Rarely and the book has to fall under one of the following:

1) It was written by an established author.
2) It has received a significant amount of praise from readers and reviewers that I know and trust.
3) It is horror, a genre that is so broken in terms of publishing that micro and indie presses handle much of it.

As for the quality, the above means the quality is as close to standard as it gets.
