If you had not created this topic I would have tonight as we can't not have a George Martin topic, he is such a good fantasy writer after all :).

As for your question there is no current date. Any date you read is not accurate or an educated guess. George has not finished writing the book. It might only take him another few weeks or it could be months yet. To be kept up to date with the situation I recommend you read GRRM offical web site which can be found http://www.georgerrmartin.com/

I recently got the audio book of A Game of Thrones and its the unabridged version which is 39 hours ;) I have not listened to it yet, maybe when I go travelling and am bored on a bus but don't have room to carry books.

GRRM is a decent writter but i fear the direction his writting style is heading towards. SoS was such a long winded book. So much description between action. Granted the action was amazing and shocking but i didnt enjoy the bits in between.

[span style=\'color:blue\'] my only worry so far Slingy, is that GRRM is spinning out of control, i dun like it how it takes us heaps of chapters in between before we go back to a certain place of action in a certain characters PoV.. [/span]

Yeah... he might do a Jordan.. hopefully not though....

You’ve really got to try audio books... I don’t sleep well sometimes and get amazing head aches.. When I was younger it meant I had to lie in bed and do sod all till it passed. then mum got me the ABC murders (Agatha Christy) on audio book.. not looked back since.. you get Good readers, Great readers and BLOODY AWFUL readers (like the guy that does the Lord of The Rings unabridged version.. he is TERRIBLE!) but they really do give you another incite into a book. They shouldn’t be a REPLACEMENT but as a continuation they are great.

G.R.R.M is great...im a huge fan...its even harder reading him a second time. This time im dreading the aweful stuff that surprised me last time. I dont want to get attached to certain characters who wont be with us for much longer. Its hard but i think im managing ;)

Interesting title of the series. A song of Ice and Fire. Theoetically only two of the Great Houses contain blood of the first men. Although im no tto sure the Blood of the Dragon is the blood of the First Men is it? Anyway to me the Ice and Fire refer to the Blood of the Starks and the Dragon Kings/Queens (Cant spell their last names;) ) I cant wait untill the moment The Blood of the Fire meets the Blood of Ice. Should be an interesting confrontation :D

Ah first book. In for some shocks you are Miranda :D

Does anyone have a copy of the second book with the dark brooding looking lad on the bottom right hand cornar of the cover? Im judging by the crown that its supposed to be {spoiler..sort of} [span style=\'color:white\'] Rob with his Iron Crown of the North?[/span]

If so, isnt he supposed to have the same light coloured hair of his mother?

Nah this one is different. The main picture is of the Red Dragon Keep of Kings Landing (i think). On the bottom two corners there are portraits of who i think are the Red Lady and Rob. But Rob shouldnt have htat colour hair if its him.

Almost done....Very harsh isnt he? I dont think he becomes attached o his main characters at all. All i can say is expect more shocks ;)

That's what I've heard also. GRRM is fantastic in creating hateable characters I figured out so far.
I guess I'll start with Book two today.

Mine has the same cover. Is this an old one or a new one? They give always different covers to the books depending on the country. As I am bying most of my english books via ebay they're all mixed.
