In Search of the Castaways - Les Enfants du capitaine Grant
« on: October 26, 2015, 09:53:42 PM »

I was curious if anyone read Jules Verne's story The Children of Capitain Grant? Or in my case, did you see the movie In Search of the Castaways?

Jules Verne published the adventure story in 1867-1868 in French and 1873 in English. The story is part of a series of Extraordinary Voyages. Anyway, I saw the Disney movie from 1962 called In Search of the Castaways. It's extremely dated, some of the special effects are so bad you can see the actors in front of the screen. Despite that, it is still remarkably nice, and the whole movie - although it has a cringe worthy plot - has a strong feeling of adventure that made me keep watching despite its silliness. Good silliness..

Actually, as I watched it, I realized I had seen it before when I was very little. Which probably also helped with the enjoyment.

Has anyone seen this movie? And if you read the novel, what did you think of it? Were there any difference between the book and the movie?
