1) I am loving these variations of the Star Wars theme music.

2) Another female lead? Oh, that's going to p**s off the boys' club..
--a) *checks comments* Yep
--b) IMDB is just as bad for this crap.

3) Forest Whitaker in power armor. Has the Brotherhood of Steel expanded into a galaxy far, far away? I mean, aliens are canon in Fallout... it could happen. Either way, he looks like he wandered in off the set of a Fallout film and they just went with it.

4) Samurai have always been a big part of Star Wars... but never quite so blatant. Those Storm Troopers were really nice to let him just rock up and do his thing on their comrade instead of pulling an Order 66 on him though.

5) We need trailers with character introductions.

6) "This is a rebellion, isn't it? I rebel." That line is getting so much hate. Can't have women getting all snarky. I don't hate the line, personally, though it does bother me. Not because it is a woman saying it, but because it is incredibly naive. An organized rebellion would want her under their thumb, doing as she is told. Could be interesting if that is how it unfolds.

I suspect that what is labelled as 'power armour' may actually be an alternative Mandalorean armour. They're very keen on armour and all that, so they would be the most likely candidate. Although I am not sure what the status is on the Mandalorians now that the whole canon universe has been f**ked up by Disney.

Obviously the whole lightsaber swinging, jedi-code stuff in robes is very samurai-like/influenced, but there's a large difference between being influenced and still original in its own way and putting one in that's so blatantly a samurai that it breaks down the whole barrier of "far-far away and definitely not Earth".

Probably I'm sticking my head in a hornet nest by saying this, but: another strong female as main character? I have nothing against female leads, but what was first a refreshing change, now seems very cliche. It seems as if a female lead can only be the lead if she's a strong female, that is: acts and talks like a man?

It certainly could be Mandalorian armor, though it is bulkier than the Mandalorian armor of this time period. Jango and Boba Fett both use Mandalorian armor and it is canon because of the films. Older Mandalorian armor can get quite bulky, but that is not canon unless they decide to go with that.

Unfortunately, it seems that people are willing to go that far to play to the roots of the series. He seems the most useless of the bunch that we've seen thus far. Melee combat just doesn't make sense for a mundane character in this universe. It works for the Jedi because their powers and ability to deflect blaster fire even the playing field. Samurai dude is just going to get gunned down, no matter how badass a fighter he is. We need character introductions. This split second look thing just isn't working.

I disagree, but I have to be up in three hours and don't have time to get into it.

Second time around I saw the trailer the female lead seemed less "action man" and more normal than the first time I saw it. So I'm happily seeing the trailer in a more positive light. Most likely going to see this movie in the cinema this december.

New trailer!

The more I saw the first trailer -especially on cinema screen - the more enthusiastic I became. And with the second trailer out, I can't wait until Rogue One comes to the cinema!
