been playing Assassins Creed 3. turning out to be a really good game, although i care little and know little of American history

Likewise, but damn it's a pretty cool game. I love the seafaring elements! It's a bit of a throwback to Sid Meier's Pirates

though the gameplay is really good, i just can't seem to get into this game. couldn't even bother to finish it. i really don't care about the story, the surroundings are a bit boring after running through Renaissance Italy and Constantinople, and the main character has nothing on Ezio

Currently rocking BioShock Infinite. Not usally huge on FPS games, but this one is visually stunning and the story is intere4steing enough, if a bit vague to begin with. Some cool elements, like the vigors and the assistance of teh bitch you're saving. Pretty sun.

Played through Halo 3. Was unexpectedly decent. Was a fan of the first Halo but never played any after that. The story took some getting in to, but it was a pretty decent ride. Don't know if I could be arsed with Halo 4  though.

Considering I never keep up to date with recent releases I'm playing Neverwinter Nights on the PC and Assassin's Creed on the Xbox.

To be fairs I've tried to play NWN a few times over the years but on my previous "really old" PC it was slow and glitchy. Creed I'm really enjoying despite not being a fan of consols exactly.

I had the same problems with NWN back in the day, and never got around to actually playing it through. One of the few Forgotten realms franchies I haven't had a proper crack at. AC is awesome times, Myd. You'll love it. ACII is still the best of the lot, I reckon.

As for what I've been playing: Thief: Pretty awesomes. It really doesn't have the same level of mystique that the roiginal has, but is still a worthy challenge. In fact, it's bloody hard in sections. But I enjoyed it until I got sidetracked with....

The Stick of Truth:
Man. This game is so fun. It lives up to the hype for sure. It's like participating in a South Park Skyrim parody episode. Brilliant game, with enough to do to keep you entertained. Plenty of side-quests and a reasonablyt-sized map to explore.

Just finished a run through the original Half Life.
Finally acquired Portal 2 and Fallout: New Vegas, and also grabbed a copy of Lego Star Wars II (for my daughter, honest guvnor!) so those are up next!

I've just discovered "War Thunder"  :soldier:

It's awesome.

It's a online WW2 Dog Fight game. The great thing is that you can just jump in and out. Every dog fight or mission only lasts a 5 to 10 mins or so and every session you join, you have get randomly assigned to a team. No factions - just jump in a fight and the chances you rarely see the same names twice.

You start with bi-plane or basic single wing plane and the better you do the more points you get. Points get converted in to upgrades and research to improve your plane. And once you've completed a plane you get to use points to buy from the next level. Don't fret about getting shot down because very quickly you'll have "spare" planes so you can get back in the mission straight away and you start with 2 or 3 anyway.

There's several different countries to fly which you can swap between but bare in mind, points gained can only be spent in that tier. I've concentrated on British plane so far so you have the Spitfires, Hurricanes, Bleinheins, Lancasters etc. But there is USA, Russia, Germany, & Japan and Australia too.

[Edit: um Don't know where I got Oz from. It's not there]

There's are several game types but I've been playing in arcade mode most. But general the most common goals are to gain air supperiority or destroy ground troops.

Very slowly progressing through Majora's Mask due to free time constraints.  I quite like the rumour system in it, motivating me to do more mini games than previously.  :)

Been playing Beyond Earth and Spaceships on the PC.

Recently re-purchased a bunch of classic 360 games and been re-playing those. On Fallout, at the minute. Even when Ave and I went on a road-trip over Spring-break, I wound up playing the music from the game in the car.  :king:

Other than SNES emulating, I've actually found myself playing a LOT of Battlefield 4 online. An FPS game I can actually tolerate? Who knew?

MM is so underrated. Top game. I read something about a remake a while back. Though it may have just been talk about the 3DS release,

I played through Final Fantasy III a little while back. I have some experience with other games in the franchise (Dissidia, Crisis Core, and FFXIV), but this was the first of the series proper that I ever played. I didn't enjoy turn based combat growing up, so I gave these games a pass. I enjoyed it through and the turn based content is perfect for someone who gets distracted with other stuff while grinding. It was fun. I would probably play more, but I'm not willing to drop $15 on additional remakes.

I've been getting more in to these online "freemium" Sim Combat games.

War thunder (by Gaijin Entertainment)  is still my favorite but I've also trying World of Tanks (by a company called Wargaming.Net). It's the same late 1930 - mid 1950s decades but I'm not so keen on this one as it's more money hungry.

As these are a freemium models you can play for free but you can also purchase premium accounts and premium vehicles etc. War thunder is OK and you can still be competive without paying it's just a little slower to progress.

WoTs more complicated and detailed in the research, crew skills and equipment aspect of the game. By itself that's fine if you like that sort of thing but War Thunder is much more linear and simple. In WoT though, you need to spend actual money to buy and use the "premium ammo" for your tanks which I think is harsh.

However my newest venture is World of Warships. Again similar era just on the high seas!

Being an old git with the reactions of a sleepy sloth, WoWS great since it's a much slower, much more tactical game. The reasearch and tech element is far easier and most importantly boats can't fly, climb mountains or hide behind buildings.

Which is always a bonus if you're old and slow like me.  :P

War thunder has 3 different levels of "realism":

Arcade mode. Well you can do pretty much any thing in the plane with out anything bad happening unless you deliberately crash or get shot down. It's easier in 3rd person chase mode as you get a wider angle of view. You can't stall, you don't wory about engine oil over heating, can't rip your wings off. It's pretty much a free for all bun fight with unlimited ammo.

"Realistic battles" are more tricky but flight modeling is still ballanced some what. You have a lead targeting reticule but no radar. And there is no auto re-arm or weapons. and you need to start paying attention to air speed etc.

"Simulator" mode is a nightmare with hyper-realistic flight modeling on the planes.... I still haven't learned how to take off with out crashing yet everytime!!! You really need to pay attention to air speed, flaps, oil / water temp, EVERYTHING. There is no radar (ID-ing hostiles or firendlies is by eyes only!!!), no lead target, you're stuck in cockpit view so no 360 degree view and need to actually look at your instruments. This is HARDCORE flight mode.
