It does not look that bright for Microsoft though. Xbox 360 Crashing Like Mad? I suspected something like this could happen. However, it is still too early to tell how much truth these reports have.

The crashing issue does not sound good, especially as its lots of different errors and on different games.

Some people are going to make a lot of money off re-selling their x-box 360. I can't believe people would be willing to pay this kind of money though.

Apparently now if you haven't got your hands on one you'll not get one until after Christmas. Sounds like Bill Gates is going to be even richer. Swine...

Did you see how much they spend on Ebay to get these babies? Sickening to spend hundred of euro`s to be one of the first to have one of these!

Best thing about it is that the PS2 will be cheaper from now on

Well, to save opening a new thread, I'll use this one.

I'm basically just looking for some game suggestions for the console. I'm thinking about picking up Mass Effect tomorrow sometime. It's received a generally positive response and looks good, so I can't see myself going wrong with that one. What about any others?

Gears of War, Halo 3 and Bioshock are all very good games. I received Assassin's Creed for Christmas, though I have not played it yet as my X-box 360 is in my flat 100 miles away

I've heard good things about Assassins Creed. I'll probably pick that up, as well. I played Gears of War at my mates though and didn't think much of the game-play. It can't replace Halo.

I don't know whether that posts makes me angry or sad, perhaps it is both and I just can't establish a balance. I have high hopes that it is a sarcastic homage to fanboy posts found across the internet, but I fear that is not the case. In any case:

Halo, the original, was a decent FPS, but degraded into pointless frustration after the introduction and reintroduction of the Flood. This brought down the experience so far that I did not even bother finishing it. Halo 2 was one of the easiest FPS's I've ever had the displeasure of paying my hard earned money for. The majority of the game could be tackled via liberal use of the melee button, the dual-wielding had little use, especially with the ineffectual weapons you had at your disposal, and, after Bungie realized that the masses would buy the game even if its case was merely a disc sleeve buried in a ziploc bag full of manure, it displayed a level of writing far below that of the original game and lacked a proper ending. Halo 3 measures in at around eight hours of gameplay and, though I have not played it as I do not own a 360, it has been been described as "poor, inadequate...a rehash of the other two games, cut and shortened". The treatment of the solo portion of the game, the most important aspect of any game, just goes to show exactly which audience Bungie made the game for, not the Solo gamers, not the casual gamer, but those hardcore Halo multi-player fanboys. Overall, what once could have been a high point when it comes to console shooters has become something hardly worth the money paid for it and the time put into developing it. A tragedy of sorts.

Likely picking up a 360 finally on the weekend, my ps2 is nearing death (it's had a good run as it was one of the first run that all died in about 2-3 years, but mine slogged onwards).

Mostly it's the next current-gen console that interests me the most. I'd love a ps3 and copy of MGS4 for free, but there's no way I'm outlaying that much money just to experience one game. I've played Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect on the PC and both are tops games IMO. Though I'll have to beg to differ when it comes to claims of a console having the best graphics. A PC with a decent graphics card has far more options at it's disposal for making sexy games sexier. Primarily the console versions rarely have decent anti-aliasing, whereas with the PC I can force AA even if the programmers didn't include the option in the PC port.

Still, 360 a-comin' my way and I'll be grabbing a few games to-boot.

RPG is my thing in general, so any suggestions other than Mass Effect? I've played a few others at my mates place, but none of them really "grabbed" me.

Elder Scrolls: Oblivion might be your kind of thing, Poper, but then again you've probably played it already on the PC. :P

Other than that and Mass Effect, (and of course, Halo 3) the new SW game - the Force Unleashed - is the only thing I've really played for any considerable time. You might like that a bit.

got it today.

Went with the 360 "Pro" being the 60GB hard drive. The "Elite" (120GB) was tempting, but for $100 less I got the Pro and a free copy of Project Gotham Racing 4, as free games go it's perfectly adequate :)

Also bought Force Unleashed, cos like, how could I not!

And a second hand copy of Mass Effect, which I already played on PC and loved.

'course, now I need a new tv, but that can wait a fortnight.
