Xbox One and other gaming consoles.
« on: October 03, 2014, 02:19:13 AM »

We have an Xbox that the kids play Assassin's Creed on, but I've not actually played anything on it.  The last console/game I played on was ps2 Medal of Honor Front Line and I really enjoyed that game.  Actually, I played the Pacific version too, but didn't like it enough to try more than a few times.

Recently, I was visiting a friend that has the Xbox One and he was playing the new Destiny game on it.  Wow.  I don't know that I'd care to play it, but it was fun to watch and the graphics were crazy!  Not only that, he gave it commands to turn it off, on, split the screen so he could play while we watched football.  It was pretty neat!

Anyone playing that or still clinging to some oldies but goodies out there?

I still haven't moved on from the Xbox 360. Probably won't until the Ones drop in price.

Yeah. Strill rocking the 360. Have been considering a next gen console but they are still a bit too expensive to fork out for. Have been gauging  the opinions of firends who have Ones and PS4s but most say it's probably better to wait.

On the other hand, Destiny looks bloody amazing.

Scored a free X1 from work. Didn't hook it up for about 6 months. Finally bought a game for it, game's shite. Probably won't play it again for another 6 months.

NHL 15. I don't really want to get into it all over again. Suffice to say that if I'd get the 360 version I would've been well satisfied. The 1 version looks very pretty at the expense of almost every existing gameplay mode. I'm angry all over again just thinking about it.

It was bloody amazing to watch, Kiks.  Definitely.  Alrin, I'm sorry to hear it was such a disappointment

Didn't want to incite your anger, Al. Sorry it sucked so bad. I've had similar experiences with what EA have been doing with the FIFA series, as Ave will attest to. I hate the game, but continue to love the series, unfortunately.

would love to get my hands on the new xbox. but knowing there is a ton of quality games still to be played on the xbox 360 (like the latest gta, haven't laid my hands on that one yet), i am waiting for the price to drop, probably twice

I figure that I'll be picking up a PS4 sometime over the next couple years once the game library has had enough time to build up and drop in price. Was a big proponent of the original XBox, but I was turned off by the lack of 360 options when I set out to buy into the last generation--it was either get a bundle with shit games or get one without a hard drive. Ended up going with the PS3 because of that--500gb hard drive and a year's sub to PSPlus, which granted me at least a dozen good games. I'll be sticking with Playstation through the current-gen because I like what I've seen from them and because I play Final Fantasy XIV on console and it is only on PS3/PS4.

I'd like to see a game like Final Fantasy on a large TV, I bet it's cool.  I've only ever played those types of games on my desk top PC.

I bought Skyrim for my PC, but ended up not having enough juice to run it at a normal pace.  It lags horribly so it'll sit in the box until I can amp up my PC.  I've heard it's amazing to play too on the console.

I find Skyrim boring. I spent hundreds of hours playing Morrowind and am a huge fan of it and the lore throughout, but I can only play Skyrim for a few hours before I start yawning and looking for something else to do. The game looks great and the gameplay, especially combat, is a dramatic improvement over its buggy predecessor. The problem is the setting. Vvardenfell was weird and epic and as beautiful as it could be with those graphics... Skyrim is a generic medieval setting that's at times beautiful but ultimately bland. It gets tiring running around the place because of it.

Good think it doesn't much to entertain me.  :P  My regular game is still PC Heroes of Might and Magic III or IV, and probably always will be.
