*steps out of the shadow*
Look what you've done! Made me delurk!
On a more serious note, I do believe Al's not far off from the truth here. However I'm certain that's not all to it.
Don't know about the rest of you, but after being a student for a long time, I got to the point where free time became quite a bit less. So much that there are days where I wonder what the heck happened to the good old student life that appeared to have seas of time asking to be wasted. I can't believe I used to think there was a high workload for study. Either way, I believe they call it 'having a life'. Which requires me to do Internships that are 5 days a week from 08.00 to 18.00 excluding travelling time, night and weekendshifts. (All unpaid) The rest of the time must be spend to study as a horrible subjective exam dooms on the horizon. (yay more stress!)
So yeah, that's my excuse for absence.
In the weekends I tend to lurk, sometimes talk (ask GO) in #feist chat. I certainly appreciate my weekendly dosis of talk with GO or Al (if he's awake and not drunk, although I don't see him in #feist). * Depending on how much time I can spare. I also try to read new posts on the HoW daily. Eventhough my primary reason to be active ceased to exist long ago. Apart from that there's the folks from the HoW I have on msn.
As for the HoW, it needs a redo. The website, forum, rules on spam, everything. Having a few of those games like we had on WoF wouldn't be too bad either. Which means someone with enthusiasm and time to spend on such a thing needs to get it done. I sure as heck don't have the time for it anymore, but maybe one of the 'younger ones' does.
Perhaps making our sci-fi board grow more next to REF wouldn't be a bad idea. Let's not forget that when looking for info on feist or fantasy writers, the choice to wiki it is easily made. To survive, you have to rethink your strategies every once in a while. It'll keep the newbies coming and the oldbies a refreshing change of threads to post in. One of the best points of this place has been its international character. Something of which I think should be treasured and well-fed for many more years to come.
Newbies are needed as much as you need children when the older generation dies. As long as you raise them well, nothing wrong with them.
If our admins don't have the time to do all the required things themselves to stop neglect, then at least they should guide enthusiastic others in getting things done for them in a constructive way. Not that difficult, happens in real life all the time.
I think I had a point somewhere in all this, but I lost it and I'm feeling way too tired. Anyway, I'm off to get some decent sleep. There's a weekendshift waiting for me tomorrow. So, Night!
Edit: * And my Naruto discussion with Althalus, how could I forget them?
