Eat this...
« on: December 01, 2008, 06:52:33 AM »

Lame topic, but I've just been chowing down on some seriously good Lo Mein and was wondering what culinary delights people had tried recently.

You can list your favourites, what you ate today, a recipe you like, foods you do NOT recommend and so on - pretty much anything to do with stuffing your face.

Carl's Jr burgers: Good... sorta. also In'N'Out burgers: good, sorta. If you like burgers, I'm sure they're pretty decent ones... I'm just not used to them. Had Carl's Jr on the way down to LA and on the way back. and Elly took me to In'N'Out, so blame her..... or something.
Also, Starbucks...... Elly's right when she says that the salted caramel hot chocolate is good. really good... mm. I refuse to give in to a starbucks addiction though! Noooo!

On the healthier side, I had Stonybrook Farms Chocolate yogurt for breakfast... mmmmmmmmmm...mmm..mm. :D And a Comice pear. Yum. :D

(I'm a bit tired, if you're wondering at all the .....s)

I'm gonna get the recipe from a mate at the restaraunt Joey, so I'll put it up here when its done.
It's good but not as good as the guiness rump down at Irish Murphy's, but I'm sure I could get a better one in the Green (there's that word again) Isles.

Just munged-out on a Macca's double cheeseburger. Pretty much the only thing I can stand at McDonald's anymore. Cheeseburgers and fries.

I was excited to hear that a "Popeyes" had opened up in my state, but to my utter, utter dismay, turns out it was just a stupid fish and chip shop that didn't have a piece of a chicken on offer!!!!!!!!! I'm writing a letter!

I'm not at all sure what you're talking about Al, but if by "Popeyes is NOT the shiznay?", you mean "is Popeyes not the shit?", then I really wouldn't know.

As a black man (well half anyway), I am addicted to fried chicken, and according to many sources Popeyes kicks the shit out of KFC. Thus my excitement upon hearing of it's alleged opening in Hobart.

Ofcourse, there isn't a Popeyes anywhere else in this country, so I should have known they wouldn't have opened the first one in Hobart.

I figured the Popeyes you were referring to was the same as that from Little Nicky. I was just making a Nickyism.

Popeyes does indeed kick the shit out of KFC. Mostly because, unlike KFC, Popeyes chicken has a flavor beyond grease.

"Eggplant and Smoked Gouda over Noodles" = noodles. With random bits of eggplant and cooked tomato thrown in. Good. But... that's a fancy name for a simple, simple thing. :P

also, they make good frenchfries/chips here. Like GoodTimes' old "Wild Fries". *nods* I loved those when I was a kid. Apparently, I still love them.

Does anyone remember when maccas had those mexican shaker fries. They used to come with a little paper bag, you put the chips in there, add the seasoning!!!! They were awesome.

I'm eating some really terrible corner store chips right now. couldn't be bothered walking futher to get something a little more decent.

Mmmm, I could really go some antipasto....you know, little marinated mushrooms, capsicum, some good cheeses, salami. Either that or anything made with nuts, especially hazelnuts. All that because I am the only one who eats antipasta in my family (hence we never buy it) and we don't have any nut products because my little daughter is severly allergic (and can now open the fridge and cupboard herself, so nothing is safe). Weird how you crave the few things you can't have!

I kinda just had that, except it didn't have chicken, and it was a portabello mushroom ravioli in cream sauce :P

Since moving to Texas several years ago I have developed a taste for spicy food... love the stuff. The spicier the better. So for me a good meal involves some kind of decent spice:

Tex-Mex
Thai
Vindaloo(sp?)
Wasabi
etc.

The thing I hate most is unfortunately a staple in almost any kind of food you can name... onions. I hate the little (or big) f-ers, and they are *everywhere*. If i never saw another onion it would be too soon. Really, I can't stand them. I wish a meteor would land in an onion field in Bolivia with some kind of onion rot from space and wipe out the whole onion/chive family of vegetables forever. It wouldn't be so bad but people who like them don't understand and treat it like its no big deal. They don't understand... "How about we get onions on just half the pizza then?" - OK, how about we just lay a sweaty gym sock across the whole pizza and let it absorb that instead? "You can't taste them when they're cooked" - Bullsh*t, they infect everything they even come near with their putrid tendrils of repulsive stink. :P
