why would you do that Bac? that's nuts man!!! ever heard ov nasal spray??? haha.

Went to Saul Williams on Friday, so me and the boys did a pub crawl beforehand. Had a shot and a drink in every pub on the Journey to the concert venue. Got stamps at every one to prove it.

Bloody aqua-bombs mess you up.

Last night Joe and one of his friends and I went on a mini-pub-crawl last night. Admittedly, I drank 7-Up and Sprite and water most of the way, but towards the end I discovered that I rather like cider (which his friend gave me a taste of). I know I made some funny faces at the taste of beer though (funny as in "everyone in the room was laughing at me" kind).

but, point being, cider ain't half bad. We were walking home at the end, and we finished a bottle between the three of us... well, fast. mmmm. :D

Have to admit, I was guilty of drinking "Goon" on the weekend. Goon is what we call cask-wine (excuse me if you call it that too), and usually refers to a box of Fruity Lexia - a very, very, sweet white wine.I just couldn't be bothered going to the bottle'o and it was just sitting there, so I smashed it.
Haven't done that since I was about 16, when I used to do it all the time. Was the best way to get smashed.

Well, I'm off to AA now.

For those of you who like to drink and enjoy Science Fiction, a blogger by the name of Neth has started putting together a list of Pubs in the UK region that come recommended (and are apparently frequented) by SFF authors. He explains how this list has come to be in the post and he plans on expanding it as well. Here is the post.

I've fixed the link. This site likes to randomly insert extra bits.

hmm.. There was a pretty heavy advertising campaign for "NEW" pear ciders when I was over in Ireland. I had a Koppenburg (sp?) pear cider one night out, and a few sips of the Magner's Pear, and a definitely preferred the Magner's (the other was cloyingly sweet, rather than the drier crisp flavour I liked).... but I'd still say apple cider is better. Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Also, beer (not bear) is actually drinkable after a few sips of wine. I didn't even make a funny face! :P

Hey baz, you ought to try this beer out. And tell me what it's like. I do not doubt one bottle of that would knock your socks off, though. :P

At £30 a bottle, I think I'll hold off, for now.

i wouldn't mind giving it a taste, but the price puts me off.... and although i don't mind a strong drink at all, i still think beer should be around 5 percent of alcohol, and not a whole lot more. definitely not 32 percent. that's allmost liquor

On the link, they suggest drinking it "as you would drink a whiskey". ..... still, it sounds gross.
(Admittedly, I've yet to learn much appreciation of beer, and would say most beers are "gross", but that one sounds especially so).

Eh, I'm on the fence. It tastes kinda good, but at the same time, it makes me make funny faces. Maybe I need to find one I like. (After all, I've drank... erm, maybe two bottles total?)

There's part of your trouble maybe... draft is far superior than bottled as well.

*bump*

I am absolutely rubbish at keeping track of the different new beers I try, so I figure reviving this thread will go a little way to helping me connect the different brews I try. As I am currently in CO. at the minute, I've been trying out some of the native beers. I've been going with the New Belgium line, of late. In particular, the fine amber ale - Fat Tire. Yummy.

I was also amused to find you can get 'Harp' lager on draft here. I couldn't help but order one...for old times sake.
