Hall of Worlds meeting 2016 II
« on: May 28, 2016, 07:47:50 PM »

Did you miss the first?
Get ready for the second Hall of Worlds meet-up this year!

Antwerp
September 2016

Yes, that's right! There will be a second meet-up this year! Open your agenda, save the date, saddle up your family with your offspring, book tickets and pack your bags!

We're going to one of Belgium's most interesting cities: Antwerp. According to folklore, the giant Antigoon lived near the Scheldt river. He exacted a toll from passing boatmen, and for those who refused, he severed one of their hands and threw it into the river. Eventually the giant was killed by a young hero named Silvius Brabo, who cut off the giant's own hand and flung it into the river. Hence the name Antwerpen: from Dutch hand werpen, akin to Old English hand and wearpan (to throw), which has evolved to today's warp. This vibrant port city is teeming with old buildings, good beer and excellent food.

Hey, Darkon, you linked to a non-existent Wiki page for "Abtwerp" -- may wanna fix that link.

I'd be interested in attending, and I do plan on being on that side of the Atlantic somewhere around September, but I can't confirm anything at the moment. Later September would be better than earlier, I think. It depends on a number of factors -- money included, since this would be adding a destination.

So, er, maybe? If I can?

Hey, folks, I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make it. I'm going to be relatively nearby, though on a different continent, but busily trying to find an apartment and plan a semester of classes.

Sorry... :(

I might make it to the area on one of my breaks between semesters. I'll try to keep you updated.
