What Movies Have You Watched Recently?

Watched The Prestige. Tell you the truth, it wasn't all that interesting. This might be because I read a complete synopsis of the movie before it ever hit dvd, although it has never ruined a movie for me before. Either that or this movie has little or no rewatch factor, and I am more apt to believe that. It was surely an interesting story, but I guess once you already know it there is no real reason to go through it over again.

Yeah its a bit hard to convey my thoughts there. The acting wasn't that bad, nothing that made you grimace in pain or anything, but it wasn't great. It was the timeline of the movie that kind of bothered me, it seemed to jump back and forth between moments in the story, which I guess is viable since most of the movie is read from a diary, but it doesn't make for a good presentation.

Watched Beowulf and Grendel, which was supposed to be a pretty good rendition of the tale. It wasn't. In fact it was incredibly boring, so much that a quarter way through it I got on the computer and pay limited attention to it. It supposedly didn't use any CGI for the action, and its probably why it looks like a horrible B-rated movie. Grendel, is now a giant human, and his mother is a nasty looking hag who lives in the water and apparantly snatches sailors out of their boats. She doesn't make an appearance until after Grendel has been injured either. Oh and Grendel has a son, too, with a human woman, who Beowulf is f****** on the side as well. I couldn't get into the movie, the dialogue was pretty bad (less Old English more cuss words was the rule for the film I guess), the acting was on par for a bad sci-fi channel film as well as the presentation of it. Do not watch this.

just watched SLC Punk. loved that movie. it's about a bunch of punks in Salt Lake City in the early 80's who are going through their melancholic pre-graduation phase (which we all had, and if you haven't, you'll have it soon and it will rock), and notice their friendships falling apart and things are changing even though they do not want to admit that. not just any other teen movie, but really a good one

watching star wars 3 right now. Best SW movie since return of the jedi imo. I love it
Watched Episode III and then re-watched it with the DVD commentary on.  I think it's definitely the best of the prequels, although Empire will always be my personal favorite out of all of 'em.

I just finished watching it too  It is an awesome movie, though the sappiness makes me want to hurl in spots.

You mean "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" ??

I like the action and storyline of III, but the dialogues are killers.

I've finished watching the Naruto manga archs. Which means I've got a bunch of OVA's, movies and fillers still waiting. It's so troublesome...  I think I'll start with the movies...

Also saw this romantic comedy yesterday... Dr T. and the Women. The ending was a bit weird...

Haha, yeah, dialogue is not George's strong point.  Even in the original trilogy, there are moments of dialogue where I cringe.

As for Naruto, I'm so glad that the fillers are done with (I didn't even bother watching them) and that the new series Naruto: Hurricane Chronicles is up and running at last.  Darkon, I recommend you watch out for the Naruto Sports Festival animated short (which ran before the first Naruto movie in Japanese theaters), as it's nothing but unfunny scat humor and is much worse than some of the most awful Naruto filler episodes.

Haha, I saw it. I'm not sure what to think of it. It was funnier the first time the joke was made in episode 4 or so.  Although the end was slightly amusin due to being so messed up.

Saw all the OVA's and movies (except #3), so that leaves about 80-85 episodes of fillers left, which I plan on watching as I want to form my own opinion about the fillers.

On an entirely movie unrelated topic, I did see episode 4 of Shippuuden today and thought it was better than the last bleach episode, a lot funnier as well. Kakashi rocks. ^_^

Now then, back to movies, I saw Bad Boys II. Explosion, humor, action = good movie. Now I got the song stuck in my head. *mutters*

Aye. I've always enjoyed that movie. Lends itself well to repeated viewings too. The soundtrack also features a gnarly cover of Lynn Anserson's '(I Never Promised You a) Rose Garden' by The Suicide Machines. Great band. Great song.

I watched The Departed yesterday for the first time. I'm surprised it won an oscar. I mean, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't terribly good, either. I enjoyed the premise well enough, and the cast all played their parts. It just seemed to drag. I remember getting a call about two-thirds through the movie and pausing it and walking out. I had a discussion with a mate on the phone where I told him I was near the end of the film because it had been going for 3 hours (or so it seemed). Obviously that wasn't the case, as the entire movie doesn't even run 3 hours. But it's that very reason that makes me think it was a rather average movie.

So ya, it just didn't do it for me. Perhaps that's a result of the movie receiving its oscar before I'd seen it. Who knows? I'll watch it again anyway to see if it grows on me. Meh.

I watched Smokin Aces tonight, a decent action / mod type film. I did think it was quite predictable though.

I watched Stranger Than Fiction, which in my opinion is the best Will Farrel movie to date, mostly because all the other movies he takes a main role in are utterly horrible. It was a suprisingly decent movie, and finally one that Will doesn't spout s***** one liners throughout.

I also rented Accepted. It was all right, completely unbelievable of course, but it still provided a few laughs. Basically the standard teen/college comedy, although there isn't any nudity for a change...

And then there is Ong Bak, which failed to catch my attention at all. It probably would have had I not watched The Protector first. There are only so many knees/elbows to the head you can see before your interest starts to wane. I didn't see the end and honestly I don't care to, though it likely has something to do with Tony Jaa kneeing/elbowing people in the head.

Saw Bridge to Tarabithia last night and enjoyed it.  I expected it to be a little like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, but it turned out to be very different.  I don't want to spoil any of it for those who want to see it, so that's where I'll stop.

just watched Aeon Flux. it was a decent enough movie, but it basically was just Charlize Theron running around in tight clothing. and i don't really have a thing for Charlize Theron really. her neck is a bit too long

I watched Unleashed, which was good, but it seemed lacking for some reason. It didn't reach the calibre of Jet Li's other films especially in the fighting area.

Got Borat, too. It was utter garbage, I laughed perhaps twice throughout the film. I don't see how anyone could think it was good or even funny.

Saw 300 on opening night and loved almost every minute of it.  The break-aways from the action to things revolving around Queen Gorgo were a killer, though, as they totally interrupted the flow of the movie (I believe they weren't in the original graphic novel, either).  Other than those minor things, this is definitely one I'll be buying when it comes out on DVD later this year.  I'll probably end up seeing it at least once more in theaters, as well.

I also watched Casino Royale again on Saturday evening, as a friend of mine is a manager at a local video game/movie store and was able to get an early rental of the film, which doesn't hit DVD until tomorrow.  Loved it just as much as I did the first two times I saw it.
