He chuckled and responded. "Gamble? I never do that. You should know. Gambling is just a weakness. Not being able to choose. Not being able to know for certain. I'm Espada, I don't waver, I do not hesitate. I have a goal and I achieve it."

Class raises her glass and yells "ESPADA!!"

The goal is already closer than before, the mission will be sucessful for we are ESPADA!

*After draining her glass she throws it into the sandpit and watches it bounce of the head of the little fighter stunning him.*

Hearing the screams and following the smell of sangria, Etora walks through the remains of the door. He appraoches the sandpit just as a glass arcs across the air, landing with a large "thud" on the back of one of the fighter's head. "ouch.. this can't be good.." Wincing, Etora makes his way to the bar and grabs a drink then walks to the area overlooking the sandpit and grabs a seat.

Gorath was still waiting for his opponent to move, when the other espada threw a bottle at his head! Stunned, his opponent spotted his weakness and moved in for the kill. Recovering quickly out of necessity, Gorath quickly parried and warded off the blow. He fought desperately for a few seconds then pushed his opponent away long enough to regain his bearings completely.

Moving in himself, he struck at his opponent, who parried and riposted, which was counter-parried by Gorath. Seemingly off-balance, his opponent stumbled back. Gorath eagerly moved in for the kill, only to be stopped by his opponent kicking his legs out from under him. Rolling away quickly and getting back to his feet, Gorath moved in again, slightly more cautious. His opponent attacked, and Gorath quickly parried, giving his all, he then furiously struck at his opponent again and again 'til his opponent fell back and Gorath knocked the sword out of his hand and punched him to the ground. He stood over him and told him "I have no quarrel with you" put his sword on the ground next to it's owner, then walked to the bar and grabbed another drink.

"He ain't a quitter." Darkon smiled and nodded at Class. "You were right. He's the Eight after all. His sword will be a welcome addition in the upcoming battles by the looks of it."

He looked at Val who was sprayed out over the floor in the pit. "Get up, you lazy git. Remember for the next time: you get killed if you're not careful." With that Darkon turned around. His eye met that of a newcomer, who grinned at him and raised his glass in cheers. For a moment he thought he felt a surge of power radiating from the new guy and then grinned back. "I'll leave that one up to you, Class." he said to the First and moved away from them back to the bar.

He ordered a new drink and grinned. "Well done kiddo. You're the Eight Espada now. You've got a life filled with death and battle lie ahead of you from now on. It's going to be a rough ride for a cause you will have to believe in if you wish to survive. I've seen you're no quitter though, so you might be able to outlive some of us." Darkon paid for his new drink and took a sip. "So do you have a name or shall I call you Ocho for the rest of your life?"

"Aye, I do at that" Gorath replied in response to his newly found commander, "my name is Gorath, and what's yours?" He sat back, took a sip of his drink, and waited for an answer.

"Gorath is a nice name. I am simply the Second, Two, Dos or anything else that refers to my number. Although, once, long ago I went by the name of Darkon. The only one still using it is the First though. Old habits die hard." He drank some more of his drink and shrugged while staring ahead as if looking back to the past. "But since there's barely anything left from that era due to wholesale destruction and my life changing quite a bit, I simply use my designation of the Espada. Until I have won the fight to see better times once more. Perhaps then I can wear my own name in pride again. Until then." Darkon cleared the remainder of his drink and ordered some barfood.

James had ignored the fight after the first few moments, instead he drifted into his own mind and to thoughts of the past, present, and future. The alcohol he imbibed didn't help much either, he vaguely remembered switching from ale to something quite a bit harder, but alas, his mind had drifted far to much to care. Slumber was right around the corner and, as James shifted in the seat, trying to gain a greater amount of comfort, he welcomed it.

Seeing the latest recruit being educated by Two, Class nods approvingly.

"I knew he had potential" she murmurs.
"speaking of which...." she approaches the newcomer Etora. "you missed the entertainment already, though perhaps there will be more. Let's drink while you tell me your tale"

Snapping her fingers she gets immediate service from the bartender.

"Barris, a jug of sangria, 2 glasses"

Val stood up in the pit and brushed the sand off his cloak. He flicked his hand and out came the monkey with a handkerchief to wipe the blood from his nose. Then he grabbed the edge of the elevated floor with one hand and in an agile fashion swung himself up. He twitched his left shoulder, then his right shoulder, finally bent his hands forward and backward. He turned to the side where the young Gorath was sitting and imbibing himself, still full of himself and the pride he took from what he thought was a great victory against a lad that much taller, older and heavier-built than himself. Val decided that he wouldn't spoil the boy's moment of joy and tell him that he'd not shown off his full skills as off yet ... he still remembered how important it had been on his own confidence when he had won his first few fights against his teachers. Instead he nodded at the boy and said, "Not bad ... for a youngster. You sure have the talent." He blew a stray lock from his face and jerked his head back at the pit. "Go and pick the blade if you want. If you're fighting in the squad you might just as well have use for it. I've got another anyway."

He turned straight again and was headed for the bar where the petite auburn barmaid was still smiling at him, knowingly. He smirked back and motioned toward her directly. Knowing what the question would be he just fidgeted around with his goatee and said pre-emptively, "Val." Struck at his directness, she blushed and shyly tried to catch her word, until she managed to whisper, "Kyra". Val just grinned and brushed another stray lock behind his ears. "Alrighty then," he paused briefly as though it were hard to get the name right. " -  Kyra ... you wouldn't mind pouring me a pint of ale after that exhausting fight, would ya?" She looked up at him and had to surpress a giggle, and then proceeded to pour a keg from the draught. He made another, slightly arrogant, and unnoticable to all but himself and her, jerk of his head directed at Gorath and murmured, "Oh, and bring the kid one as well. He's probably not had his first evening of drink, and he's clearly deserved it," adding a somewhat mean grin to it. He pondered a second whether he should motion her to possibly join them, but the weight was taken from his shoulder when she said, "I'll bring them over to the table." He winked and motioned towards the table to sit down near the others, when he realised that Darkon was staring into his direction, grinning broadly. Val shrugged. "What?!"

[[OOC: Kyra isn't that easy. Well, she isn't complicated, for granted, so I guess she is a little easy. She isn't that easy otherwise though, she's just a little interested in Val, that's why she's that co-operative that far. She'll get a little more cheeky as the evening progresses. Oh, and why did I make her interested in Val? Well ... she wasn' taken yet, and remember - we can play the NPCs at our disposal. ]]

"Nothing." responded Darkon "I was merely thinking, that you've done a good job." He winked at Val and then grinned to both Val as Gorath. "Espada worthy! Now get me another drink, because all this waiting is boring the hell out of me!"

It was then Darkon received some food and he welcomed it. Sharing the food and drink with his fellow mates he waited on the last two of Espada to show up and not only that, little 5th still hadn't shown up yet...

Trudging through the ink-black night, scarcely lit by the lanterns hanging by some of the doors of the buildings on either side of the street, Edhelur grumbles to herself and keeps walking, watching the ground but glancing at each building she passes. She's looking for the door she was told had a carving to scare most half to death, a demon; she hopes it's well enough lit to even see that door.

She sees the door that could not be any but the one she's seeking. 'A nasty demon, all right,' she thinks, shivering in its glare. Having kicked her dirty boots on the single stair in an attempt to knock some of the clinging mud off, she tosses away her fear, then tugs the door open with a slight creak.

'I've come this far,' she says to herself and quickly walks to the back of the tavern where Class, Darkon, and Gorath sit together around a bright but melted down candle, drinking and laughing.

Edhelur taps Darkon on the shoulder from behind, raising an eyebrow. "You asked that I be here, Darkon. What for?"

Someone was tapping Darkon's shoulder. He turned around and looked at the person responsible for this. It turned out to be Edhelur. "Ah, you've made it! Good. Please join our game of cards. Everyone, meet the Fifth."

Darkon pointed at a chair and resumed. "Superb that you've come to the Sixth's inn. Now eight espada have gathered here. At least two more before we have a chance of survival and can start our mission to save this soddy, non-existing world of ours which we ruined in the past..." he eyed Class and then nodded. "I shall refrain from saying more. Good to have you here. Have you met number Seven and Eight yet?"

After spending along time with his head in his hands Snowlock decides its time to mingle. Seeing a group of people sitting around a well lit table he heads over to join them.  with a nervous look upon his face he asks, "room for one more?"

"Certainly." said Darkon in response to Snowlock. He then ordered another drink and said "Why are you so nervous, Third?"

Darkon sniggered. "Sounds to me like you're afraid. A weakness, not really an Espada thing. Although the First kneecappings could be something to be afraid of if you were a simple peasant, I must admit, but why would she use it on a fellow Espada? Really, you must have done something pretty bad to anger the First to deserve that. If you had, then that's your problem. Since you're Espada, you should be able to solve it and if not, you die. Such is life. Considering the fact that you have not been attacked since you came in, I can only conclude you haven't done anything wrong that would deserve a kneecapping. So... why be nervous?" he grinned and then accepted his new drink from one of the waitresses.

"Hello, everyone-minus-two." Edhelur pulls out a chair for herself and turns it around, then sits straddling the back, leaning forward.

She raises her hand like a child in school, and is ignored. She snaps her fingers and is completely ignored. With a slight grumbling growl she stands, strides over to the bar, grabs the nearest fork, and heartily pokes the nearest back. The object of her stabbing nearly shrieks girlishly and spins around to face her as his friends laugh.

"Water, please?" Edh asks, smiling innocently, the fork having disappeared somewhere. With the worst kind of grimace, he fetches her a glass half full of particularly stinky water.

"Agh, never mind." She turns around again, glances over her shoulder in case he's planning on returning the poke with a sharp knife, then hurries back to the crowded table. She hunts in the entirely too enormous, soggy pack on the floor for a drink, and finds a canteen. Draining it, she asks: "What're we playing, anyway?...."

Whilst listening to Darkon point out his weaknesses, Edhelur arrives. Snowlock watches her quietly trying to order a drink, when this fails she gets out of her seat and strides over to the bar. Speaking to the table snowlock says  "excuse me a moment i need a drink." He gets up and follows Edhelur over to the bar.

He gets to the bar and watches her 'order' a drink. Before he can offer any advice, Edhelur returs to the table empty handed. Snowlock reaches into his pocket and fishes out a coin which he  then places on the bar, "Beer please." The barmaid takes a look at him for a second, then takes the coin and hands him a beer. With a drink in hand Snowlock returns to the table.

Draining her canteen, Edhelur asked: "What're we playing, anyway?...."

Darkon looked up from his cards and grinned. "Cripple Mr Onion. First is the Dealer."
