End of Serpentwar saga to beginning of Conclave
« on: September 21, 2004, 04:17:25 PM »

Anyone else than me that would like to know more about Erik, Roo, Dash and the other characters in Serpentwar Saga?

I would love to read some more about their life, especially about  -->

Spoiler: show
Dash as the "uprightman"

and ofcourse the rebuilding of Krondor.

What are your thoughts.  :soldier:

It would be good to know more about the good charatcers in the Serpantwar, I am sure there are many stories waiting to be told. Personally I would prefer Ray to write the final 3 Riftwars before going back and filling out back history.

Yes I would like to have like a Legacy of the Serpentwar series but doubt it will happen.  I'm looking forward to the Darkwar Saga.

Lets just hope his son or daughter will write them for us. But I really want to hear about Erik more, he is one of my most favourite characters ever.

Personally i think an appendices such as Tolkien did would be great so that we could get a brief history of what happened to the main characters without having to create another legacy storyline which really only sought to go into further depth about characters or settings rather than informing us what happened to main characters

That isn't a bad idea actually, but Feist doesn't seem the type to do that sort of thing. And also, Tolkien was more of a historian then a storyteller.

Thanks!

Yeah i noticed that but personally i think that would be the best way of doing it because really we don't need a whole book on each character or group of characters but it would be good to read a bit about their life and a few of the major details.
Maybe someone else could write it

Ray should have been cloned for sure hehe.  Ofcourse there isnt time to write about everything, and thats a shame. Maybe I'm to used to the Realms and Dragonlance that has plenty of writers giving it time to develop more maybe.. I dunno.

Feist is still the best fantasy author I've read sofar.  And I really hope that his son and/or daughter would continue or follow up the story like Tolkiens son did. (10-15 books published after his death i think?).
It basicly so much good to write about in the Riftwar series

I dont think he would do that. After all, if you read the books, you quickly become familiar with all the characters, and the ones with less information are done like that for a reason.

I think it would stillbe a fair idea. If the Krondor books have tought me anything it is that its hard to write stories about characters about which you know what happens in the future. In a Tolkien like Glossary you wouldnt have that problem. It would justbe an interesting timeline of events and mini stories.

As for the clone...well i'llet to work on i immeadiatly.(Insert Nerdy Scientist Smiley here)

It would be nice to have at least one book that takes place between SoaBC and TofSH though, since it's quite a long gap between the two series.

But I agree with Coeshaw as well - Feist should finih the main series he has planned first. At least that way, if something ever happened, we'd still have the main storyline to enjoy.

Isn't a bit silly wondering if Ray's children are going to take over for him?  He isn't that old or does he have health problems I am unaware of.

I think most people are saying that his kids will have to take over writing for him 30+ years down the road is because everyone expects him to write whole novels or series about everything in the Midkemian universe.

It...it just won't happen. More than likely he'll end the series long before he dies. But if his kids take hold after he dies to publish books, i'm sure it won't be Ray's idea

I get the idea REF wants to finish midkemia and go on to other things. but i dont want him to!

Actually, that really annoyed me. They set up Dash and all that up as these awesome characters, in fact, i was expecting more from jimmy and dashel.... and then they just disappeared... forty years later and in the conclave of shadows, all ive heard of them is that Tal read's Roo's biography and that Erik is in his seventies and is knight marshal or sumthin.

Spoiler for Conclave and Darkwar Saga's.
Spoiler: show
Duke James Jameson of Krondor is in King of Foxes and talks to Tal, and Erik von Darkmoor is in King of Foxes and Flight of the Nighthawks, as he is suddenly the Duke of Krondor while James just vanishes off the face of the "earth" Medkimia.
Conclave and Darkwar Saga Spoiler.
