Legends of the Riftwar Question!!!
« on: March 17, 2005, 04:41:25 AM »

:threaten: Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get the three titles which are listed as the Legends of the Riftwar Series.

They are:
Honored Enemy
Murder in LaMut
Jimmy the Hand

I have looked all over and I can't seem to find them anywhere. Am I doing something wrong? Do you know where I can get them?

Hello and welcome to the forums! I suggest you pop on over to the Entrance forum and make a welcome topic about yourself.   :jester:   And as for the Legends books I would suggest trying amazon.co.uk as they aren't released in North America yet...if thats where you are?

Stick around and post lots!  :dragon_red:

If you do decide to purchase the books through amazon, why not use the Hall Shop?
(that way not only will you be getting a great read, but you'll also be supporting the hall)

The first book in the Legends trilogy: Honoured Enemy, may very well be his best stand-alone novel.

Welcome to the Hall. Thx for using our shop to help support the site.

Honoured Enemy is a fantastic read, the other 2 books are decent reads in my view.

I just bought HE and MiL over Ebay from the UK.  I finished HE in a couple of days, and couldn't believe how good it was.  MiL seems a little slow, i'm only 3 chapters in (school work is starting to press down, so pleasure reading has been sacrificed for American Political thought text books), so it is on the back burner.  My question is, is the Jimmy the Hand book worth it???  He's one of my fav. characters, but some reviews I read were less than stellar.  Any thoughts from those who've read it???

I'm not a huge fan of the story, though it does introduce one of Ray's most intriguing characters: Jarvis Coe.

It's still the only copy of the Legends series that I don't have in HB (only in PB).
I personally wouldn't pay US$20 for it.. but others might recommend it.

Jimmy the hand is worth a read, I don't think I would pay $25 dollars for that privilage though, you can buy it new from Amazon UK in paperback really cheaply.

Ok. This is old news (2002), but I thought I'd post it for those who never heard.

Quote
There maybe another Legends of RiftWar book coming, only if the sales for MiL are good. Ray is hope he could do another story that continues the story out of MiL. The next book (only if sales are good) would be called Murder at the Three Swords. - Pits Feist Page

Dependant on sales, there are rumors of a sequel in the works for Murder in Lamut... current working title is "Murder at the Three Swords." - ARWZ

I doubt this book will ever see the light of day. By most peoples reactions, MiLM didn't particularly strike a chord with the fans, so i imagine wouldn't have sold all that well.

Judging by the title, it would be the tavern owned by Kethol, Durine and Pirojil.

Info on the Three Swords Tavern [Direct Quote:]
Spoiler: show
If the three of them ever did save up enough to buy that tavern, it would be Pirojil who would be counted upon to handle the money, after all. It was something they talked about, from time to time. Pirojil would run the business side of the tavern. He had negotiated with military paymasters from Salador to Crydee; he should be able to out-negotiate winemakers and brewmasters, shepherds and cattle ranchers, and never mind getting the whores upstairs - and they would want to be sure to have whores upstairs; it was always good to be able to sell one thing that never ran out.

There would, undoubtedly, be some new tricks to learn, but Pirojil could manage that part of it. Durine could keep the peace, as long as he had a little bit of help when needed. Anybody drunk enough to want to face off against the big man would be more than drunk enough not to notice him or Kethol coming up behind him with a truncheon. It would probably be best to have Durine fight the first few by himself, by way of letting him establish a reputation, and letting it be known that the Three Swords Tavern - that did have a nice ring to it, didn't it? - was the sort of place a man could have a few beers, a hot meal and a quick poke, without being bothered, as long as he behaved himself. It could happen.
- Murder in Lamut Spoiler

And i guess it would be another murder mystery in the same vein as Murder in Lamut. Only about a Murder at the Three Swords.
(i know, i'm not much help)

We might have seen more of Milo and Mackin (loved that mad dwarf) or at least learnt a little of their fate after MiL.

I'd like it to come out, I'd read it. But alas, MiL didn't sell well.

What do you reckon MatTS would be about? Obviously in an Inn somewhere and it'd be about someone important.

It's been a while since I read Murder in La Mut, but I thought it was a decent book. Although, at the moment I wouldn't want Ray to write a sequel because I feel there is better things he could be writting about with this time. As you can probably tell, i'm not too keen on reading a book mainly based on idiots again.
