Amos... please read this thread to learn how to tag spoilers correctly. In the future, any spoilers found marked incorrectly will see that post deleted and a level added to your warning bar.

To return to the subject at hand....
Spoiler: show

My guess would be no, as Dahkon was simply a tool.  If Varen would have been anyone, he would have been the lady Jania/Clovis/Emerald Queen/Khali.  But since Nakor killed that person, and he knew how to do it once and for all, i doubt they are the same person.  I could be wrong...I guess we'll find out eventually!

Spoiler: show
Consider that at the time, Jania/Clovis/Emerald Queen/etc. was in truth a minor player in the grand scheme of thing, naught but a Pantathian pawn working towards their ends for her own gains.  After tKB, she obviously becomes much more, but still has the leash of the Pantathians upon her.  I figure she wasn't of much use to Nalar until she rose to power as the Emerald Queen, and even then, until the death of the Pantathians, she could be manipulated through them.  After that, as Kahil, I imagine she took more notice as Nalar lost his principle agents and became his major non-Pantathian, non-Sidi weapon.

spoilers/speculation drawn from Shadows of a Dark Queen, King's Buccaneer, and Shards of a Broken Crown.

you mention Sidi. and as i do not really know where to ask, i ask here: have read everything up to KoF. but i cannot remember who Sidi is, more than he is one of the actors in KTotG (spoiler? right book?). do I get an answer in ER or FotN? My thought was that varen and sidi were one and the same, but now i am not sure....pls enlighten me.

Spoiler: show
Sidi is Leso Varen.  He's also a bunch of other baddies we've met along the way, but he first makes a screen appearance in the Krondor books.

Actually, he first makes his apprearance in "Jimmy the Hand" as Lyman Malachy, as the Advisor of Baron Bernarr.

Haven't gotten the Legacy books in the U.S. yet, and tbh, I'm not about to spend money shipping on cowritten books.

actually, that was my thinking "it must be sidi" when i read JTH, but do we get any more information about him other than that he is....

Spoiler: show
Pug's equal
general story spoiler
....and all that talk? I wanna know from where he comes and the like - or is he gonna be a bit like Nakor; a mysterious key character?

I dont remember so much from the Krondor series and Sidi's involvement there, but i dont think we were given much information about him then either.

I'll just put this in a spoiler to be on the safe side...

Spoiler: show
The same thing happened in Star Wars. A character proclaimed herself as Dark Lady of the Sith at the end of the Rebellion, but then she disappeared after a while. Strange how stuff like that happens....I doubt we'll see another Leso Varen-esque character, at least until he is killed properly.

Go here, Heasy. Although, the piece I read some time ago did not state that she resurfaced during the Yuuzhan Vong war, like that site does. It must of been a poorly updated site or something I read before.  :elf_gloop:

Anyway (send me a PM if you are still curious), back on topic....
