I was inspired by the 'casting for the movie' topic for this one. A few suggestions for casting were taken directly from the Lord of the Rings movies, which was a little disapointing but understandable. It's this that makes me think the works of Feist might not work too well on celluloid. Not because the original text is lacking. Far from it. It's just that any fantasy movie, or series of fantasy movies will be compared to LOTR. And unless the budget's there I think Feist's work will come out second best. Therefore the idea of bringing Feist's master works to the screen in a different way came to me. Why not a cartoon? Any thoughts?

I do believe that Ray has already thought about that awhile back. Would be great though. I wouldnt want it to be a Movie, Movies usually wreck things, but Cartoons rock! Would be alot better for the Special affects too.

Sorry, I didn't realise the idea was already broached (I'm new)
You're right about the specialFX. Maybe if the cartoon had a slight Manga feel (Ninja Scroll style).

It would be best to see it in Japanimation form if it did go to animated world and would certainly be far cheaper.

You would certainly lose the risk of making the world look like a Xena episode.

Japananimation is definitely the way to got. But not the old school monkey punch stuff. Maybe in the style of that vampire movie (Or was it a short film? It wasn't very long). Y'know the one with the school girl with a samurai sword. The animation and directing in that would be perfect. Damn, what was it called?

The style of Ghost in the Shell would fit best I think.

I love Ghost in the Shell, but I thought it was a little rough around the edges. Actually that might suit the subject matter. I stand corrected

I'm not too sure on this idea. I would prefer a movie being made myself.

As long as you promise to use Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) as one of the voice actors. He's probably one of the best cartoon voice actors around.

I think an animated series of movies would be a good idea, thought my preference would still be a feature film with real actors etc. I still think Magician would need to be 2 films of at least 2 hours each.

An animated film would be a lot cheaper effects wise, not having to hire big name actors, plus the aging of characters in Magician over the 11 odd year time period would work well in animation, no need to get 2 different actors to play pug/tomas etc.

Hm...  either real life or as voice actor: Sean Connery should be Borric.

point ALS.
i think it would be good as a computer animation. final fantasy looked reall enough. characters could look spot on, and age perfectly. i think that cartoons tend to look a little to unreal, like body perportiobns are often off.

Firstly... none of this Japananamtion, its called Anime. I agree that if it was done in the style of Ghost in the Shell or Blood: The Last Vampire it would look pretty good.

Those two aren't as 'kiddy' looking as say Dragon Ball Z (something people know). Nonetheless an Anime version would look pretty good.

Computer animation (a la Final Fantasy & Starship Troopers) gets my vote as a second option.

You're right of course Suli. It is Anime, not japanimation (Damn westerners). Oh and thanks for reminding me what that vampire movie was called. That was really bugging me. Glad you agree on the style. That movie was beautiful, and I think the style would work well with Feist's work.
