Midkemia Sports
« on: April 23, 2008, 07:23:32 AM »

Ok, I asked this question of Feist, and I liked it,so I'm asking all of you too.

If you we're starting up a sporting team in Midkemia, what would your team be called, and what characters would you select to take you to Glory?

You can have coaching staff too.

Can be any sport, but make sure you pick enough players to fill your squad. ie, if you are playing Basketball, have 5 players (bench if you want), Soccer has 11 players and so on.

Let the Midkemia Fantasy teams begin

Quite hard, since most of the character's wouldn't know a thing about how to play. I'm thinking soccer/football myself, and Jimmy and Locklear were meant to be pretty damn good at that, so they'd both be on my team sheet. Not sure who else I'd take. Probably bribe a few decent player's from the other top teams. :P

And who better than Arutha to manage the team?

As for name? Simply calling the team the Valheru would at least send a shiver down a few Elvish backs. However. I'd go for something a little more like the Krondorian Dragon Lord's, or Krondor's Dragon Lords, if you will. Or how about the Dread?

Oh, and to borrow from American sports, can we have cheerleaders? No male ones, mind you.

it would be foot ball and i will give you the O line. The name of the team would be "The eagles"(not in reference to the philly eagles)
bobby would be the center,  james(jimmy the hand )would be quaterback,  calis and calin would be wide outs, and tight end.... hummmm let me see, prolly would be tomas

Arutha would have to be the coach because of his tatics and willingness to lead no matter what.

i may need to think of the other members of my line... but i will be back with the rest of my team

Tomas would definitely make a find addition. Just think of how high he can jump. :elf_gloop: You'd have no chance marking him with that speed and strength of his, too.

Decent enough team, I suppose. That central midfield and back area of your team could easily be exposed, though. Arutha would need to be a hero on the football field, as well as the field of battle. :D I wouldn't play either Amos or Guy in there. Simply too old. Jommy would be better in there from the start, alongside someone like Zane. They'd have a great understand of one and another.  :P No problems in communication, anyway, since they're very familiar with each other. And you'd never miss that red hair of Jommy's. I'd fit Arutha's twins in there somewhere, as well. Still think Arutha himself would be better managing. Perhaps player/manager?

Nah, gotta have the bane of Darkness on the pitch Joe. and its not necessarily them as aged in the book.

Guy and Amos are warhorse tacticians, perfect for a CB pairing. Old or not, what striker wouldnt be a scared bearing down on those two infornt of goal. Jommy is my up and comer, kind of like Terry when he played behind Desailly and LeBouf, and Nicholas has more of his old man about him then borric and erland.

Sho-Pi is my import because I figure he would be quite tricky on the pitch, and Ghuda is the muscle. Boldar was recently aquired from Honest Johns FC, and is like Solskjaer - baby face assassin.

Long Leon is the target man up front, while Laurie is the show-pony poacher. Tal provides the flair out of midfield, while Arutha holds the midfield together. Jimmy and Locky are fast as buggery, so they get the wings, and roo and dash are there for similar reasons. i like a bit of thuggery in my RB, and some sneakyness in my LB.

Von Dark is GK because blacksmiths have solid hands.

Great explanation, there. :D I'm still not 100% convinced about Guy and Amos, but you definitely have me swayed with the other players in there. I'll need to do a little thinking and get to you with a full team of my own...

I might have to bring Amirantha into the squad next season. being able to summon some demons on to the pitch might prove useful.
