Official Flight of the Nighthawks Thread
« on: April 16, 2005, 05:59:41 AM »

With the release of 'Flight of the Nighthawks', first book in the Darkwar Saga, coming out relatively soon for most of us here at the Hall, I thought it appropriate to now have one thread where we can discuss basically what we think will happen.

We had some false information sometime back, so we aren't 100% sure on what will happen and like new characters etc etc.

Remember to abide by the spoiler rules.

I'll let someone else start the ball rolling.  :king:

Hmm....well now. *looks around* I'm looking forward to reading more about the Nighthawks. Perhaps a little insight into how they work would be welcome. I wish some more information was released about the book....

I'm looking forward to this book quite a bit actually.  I am going to jump the gun on it, and order it from the UK when it is released.  Damn you U.S. publishsers! (Shakes fist at the darkened sky!)  That way I don't have to torture myself skipping spoilers like I did with Exiles Return.
When is the exact release date folks?

Yep. They must have someone backing them. Probably Sidi thought it would distract the Kingdom by setting them loose again.

What  about the timeframe for this new book, because we jumped a few years between the original Riftwar and the Serpent War saga.  I wonder if it will be set soon after the events of Exile's Return or if we will jump another 70ish years or so. Also will we have the same characters such as Talon or will we have a whole new cast.  :king:

I reckon it will be quite soon after what happened in Exile's Return, coz of what happened at the end of that book (can't be bothered with spoilers so will circumnavigate, think cave) Lol
Also, Id like to see the nighthawks come back, they were, well funny probably isnt the right word.... hmm, they were interesting They threw in a bit of... iono... mystery. So itll be cool to have them back.

If it follows on from Exile's Return, then it might not not about the Nighthawks at all it could be the name given to one person. :elf_gloop:

What makes you say that Spuduka?
Spoiler: show
There was evidence that the nighthawks came back at the end of Exile's Return, in the Kingdom. Let alone Kesh, which is suposively where this one may be set. The timeline will most likely be very soon after we leave Nakor in the cave on Novindus.

My prediction is that this book will take place not long after the last one. Mere months is my guess...They can't patiently hang around after all. Also, I expect a lively opening.

He is mentioned in the Conclave books quite a lot, so I recommend you read them or else you will spoil your read of them, if you read everything in this topic.

I think that this book will take place directly after the last, maybe not with nakor in the cave, but no more than a month ahead.
Spoiler: show

With Talon, Kaspar and Amafi out looking for Leso Varen, as i think they do, you wouldnt think that Pug and Nakor would want them dilly-dallying around. The time in which they have to act is also limited with portals from the lower circles already opening.

The thing is Ray has mentioned that the Synopsis on Amazon is incorrect and some of whats said never happens. Amazon need to update this.

I also think Flight of the Nighthawks will start off not long after Exile's Return. Talon, Amafi and Kaspar are probably on there own missions, maybe
Spoiler: show
Talon looking for the vase with Leso's soul and Kaspar with Amafi rioting against the Nighthawks (with a little help from the Kingdom  :king: ??). Maybe James and Dashel get a greater role... would be kewl.
I do think the next book will be a preperation before a careful selected group, maybe with Macros again, goes to one of the worlds of the Dasati.
I do not hink it;s like Star Wars that when you shut off the mainframe, all robots will quit, but something like that.

Anyway, I think we got a lot of hell coming in the next Riftwar.

Ray has said time and time again that Macros will not be returning. So, we won't be seeing from him anytime soon.
