RoaDK. Saaur and Tomas
« on: September 08, 2007, 09:29:31 AM »

OK so at the battle of Darkmoor when Pug and the others talk with the Saaur to get them out of the battle, and Tomas steps up to speak with the leader

why do they not have that recognition/fear thing going on that has been evident in every other instance where former servants of the Valheru have encountered him.

Moredhel, Tigermen, Hanam/demon, even the Pantathians when they run into Calis there is that recognition of who and what he is and the instinctive fear that goes with that.

so why not in this instance?

No clue. Perhaps because they are Saaur? Proud warriors and therefore they don't show their fear even if they might have it?

Were the Saaur actually created by the valheru? Perhaps, they were but hired, and thus were not afraid. Or, because they have been a large and proud civilization, they have forgotten their roots.

I believe that is quite correct. Together with the Pantathians if I remember right.

Forgotten and abandoned on a planet for a millennium its no wonder they forgot their roots.  Though nothing a Valheru utilizing the language of power couldn't fix.

Unless they have a natural long lifespan like elves. Of course I doubt any Saaur would grow very old. They seem keen on battle.

They seem a very proud race, very dominant. Maybe they didnt bow down to tomas because they wont bow down to anyone?

Personally I think that's an explanation not far from the truth. Assuming there's a fair explanation at all.

The tiger man also had no instinctive fear till they were thrown around like bad kitties.

And eventhough they were also in a quite remote spot on the world, they still remembered. (If I recall them right) Which makes me wonder if it's all folklore they pass on or if they actually live that long like elves to decently remember.

The only thing I can think of is that the Saaur have never encountered the Valheru, or they were so decimated by them in the past they've no written records.
