Silverthorn 20th Anniversary Edition - NO MORE
« on: March 15, 2005, 09:10:29 PM »

Ray just announced that there WON'T be a 20th anniversary UK hardback of Silverthorn released this year.
Apparently the hardback market is in a slump in the UK & Australia and the publishers don't want to play at the moment  :irritated:

Silverthorn 20th Anniversary Edition - NO MORE

All I can say is WTF, that sucks. I am sure there are at least a few thousand Feist fans that would buy this book minimum. if they charged the 25 pounds like last time they would make a profit I am sure. Its only a re-print after all.

In your post you did say "THIS YEAR" does this leave it open for future that there could be a new hardback release, even though it would not be a 20th Anniversary edition?.

I really wanted a Riftwar Trilogy hardback anniversary collection. :threaten:  :elf_dead:  :elf_gloop:

That may be worth buying.  IMO, I think a reprint of Silverthorn is not worth it, even if it is a 20th anniversary edition, thats just me though.  Only time I want to spend the big money on a HB is if its a first edition, not a reprint.

Speaking of stuff like this, does REF ever put out special editions that have slipcases and what not?  I know Stephen King puts out limited editions with nice artwork and slipcases every now and then and I know there is a leather edition of Magician out there

The Silverthorn would have been a leather hardback edition, with book mark and probably some pictures as well like the Magician edition a few years ago, thats why we are annoyed its not going to be released.

So I'm guessing you never looked at the Easton Press editions of Magician?
Actually, all of the re-releases of the US hardback of Magician have been considered first editions...

The only edition of Ray's books ever released with a slipcase was a special editions of Faerie Tale by Hill House pulishers (unless you count his short stories in the special editions of Legends 1 and legends 2 - these both came out with slipcases)
There are 500 numbered copies of Faerie Tale and 26 lettered copies.
They are signed & numbered by Feist, Don Maitz who did the cover art and Leila Dowling who did several sketches inside..

There was a nice leather bound UK 20th anniversary hardback produced in 2002
I priced getting a slipcase made up at the time with cloth that matched the book cover and it was quite cheap - about $20 or so...

Stay tuned on this one.  John from crydee.com is trying to get an idea of how many fans would be interested in buying a UK 20th anniversary edition of Silverthorn.  He'll likely present the numbers to his contacts at Harper Collins.
His email is below.  Please feel free to answer his email if you are seriously interested as the more people interested, the more chance of the book being printed.
It would probably be a good idea to mention the Hall so he knows where you are from.
Once again, serious replies (to the email) only....

OK before we start I want replies to

silverthorn@crydee.com only

Basic idea is a book to match the 20th Leatherette Magician from
Voyager, signed  by Ray ( auto signature not the real thing)

I need 5 things

Country you are located in

If a Non Voyager Supplied Country (i.e. USA) would you get it shipped,
or through Amazon and its Likes ?

How Much Money would you Pay for a copy

How many Copies would you want

If you know others who would buy how many copies would they want

and if I forgot to say send to

silverthorn@crydee.com
