Summary?
« on: May 27, 2007, 08:57:45 PM »

Is there any place where I would be able to get a decent summary of the books of Feist? I've read them all, but the time-gap between reading often means that by the time I get to the next book, the last one I read is just a vague memory, and a lot of the time I really don't have the spare time to re-read the previous book. (That, and as a student, I rely heavily on the library to get my fix.)

In particular, this time round. I'm looking for a decent summary (Covering all the major plot points and revelations) for Exile's Return, so that I can start on the Darkwar saga.

I had a look around the forums here, and the FAQ, but there are only vauge spoilers, nothing that really jogs my memory.

Any information you could give me would be greatly welcomed.

Feist books aren't that complicated really. He's no Erikson, so they don't really need much of a summary. What you read in the synopsis of each book is pretty much what you get. If you feel a little vague about some things I can only suggest you take a look through some of the threads around here and you might find a little clarity. It's ok to ask questions though if you have any in particular

Well, here's my synopsis of Exile's Return in quick form:  (Highlight to read)

Kaspar, former Duke of Olasko and bad guy to Talwin Hawkins, finds himself stuck in Novindus with nothing.

Through hardship, he marginally succeeds in getting himself back on his feet and perhaps ready to reclaim his throne.

In Novindus, he finds himself with a mysterious Black Statue-like thing that just wreaks of something bad.  He feels compelled to bring it to the Gods.

We find out it's something called a Talnoy -- an ill-manufactured robot-like thing from a different dimension.  Unfortuantely, it's existence on Midkemia is bringing about many rifts into that realm, which is filled with really bad guys.  THe Talnoy can be commanded by whoever is wearing a special ring.

Kaspar ends up with Pug and company, and we kind of like his character a bit, especially since he was darkly influenced by Sidi/Leso Varen, an evil magician who is Pug's current nemesis.

Finally, we find out that there are thousands of Talnoy buried in a cave on Midkemia.  And we need to get rid of them, or else the being from this dimension will make Midkemia rather bad.[/color]

Guys.. the hall is not only the forum. Just check the main site. There should be a complete list of the books with a short sum up of each book in the "books" section.

Syr and Shifty will fix it whenever they have some free time. In the mean time, however, perhaps one of you guys would like to give a whole list of summaries of Feist's work. A bit more detailed than the ones currently on the site.
