Varen, Sidi and Dehakon
« on: June 18, 2006, 08:59:46 PM »

I have a question? It has annyoed me for a while.

The King's Buccaneer
Spoiler (highlight to read)

Spoiler: show

Is Varen the same magician as Dehakon in The King's Buccaneer. Because if you read the description of Dahakon's chamber (in King's Buccaneer) then read the description of Varens chamber (In King of Foxes i think) they are similar, bodies hanging off the walls, all manner of dark things in their chambers. Also I think I remember reading somewhere that Varen was trying to create his own lifestone so Nalar could return, so maybe Varen, Sidi and Dehakon are the same person because Dehakon tried to use the lifestone, Varen tried to create his own (don't what Sidi has done). But it seems all there goals are the same, causing confusion in the kingdom/kesh. I also remember reading somewhere that confusion in the kingdom/kesh would help Nalar come back.

Dahakon and Varen? I don't think so.
Sidi and Varen being the same is quite probable, unless it was intended for him to be finished off in the unwritten finale of the Legacy series (again, if he can change bodies, killing him wouldn't solve anything), but Dehakon from the King's Buccaneer wasn't... the villain of the story. Not really. He was a tool, and the main villain was Lady Clovis. He was just too stupid there, and manipulated. Varen strikes me as too cunning to allow that.

Still, my memories about Dahakon aren't too detailed.

Coe: Lyman Malachy was the third.

As for Dehakon being another incarnation of Sidi, I can't find the thread but I seem to recall Ray stating in fact that Dehakon was NOT Sidi. (The reason I may be having trouble finding it is that it may have been posted on the Feistfans list and not here on the forum - could you shed any light on this, Tal?)

Indeed Flight of the Nighthawks!

But Pug only states Varen and Sidi Beeing the same. Wich will not mean that it is still possible that there Dehakon is one if Varen/ Sidi`s incarnations!
