Favorite Riftwar Cycle Novel
« on: October 14, 2015, 05:13:38 AM »

I was just curious as to what everyone's favorite Riftwar Cycle novel was. I have not yet finished the series and am reading in order of publication and am up to Murder in Lamut. However, my favorite novel so far is Honored Enemy.

You pose a difficult question Macros the Lizardman, as the entire Riftwar Cycle up till the Serpentwar is enjoyable to me. Especially the first half of serpentwar, and everything before that including the Empire series. But the first book that springs to mind is Silverthorne.

That said,  welcome to the Hall of Worlds and enjoy your stay.  If you want,  introduce yourself at the Entrance, because we always like to meet new people!

Really enjoyed Honored Enemy. There's this one drinking scene i really enjoyed.

Don't know if i ever made it to Murder in Lamutt.

'Magician' remains my favourite after all these years. It opened my eyes to fantasy and completely changed my life. I probably wouldn't be as interested in reading if it hadn't stumbled across it, and thus wouldve suffered in other ways.

However, saying that...Rage is the most entertaining book, in my opinion, and the best kickass fun caper that he's written with a great cast to boot.   :soldier:

this is really interesting to find out.
I too like silverthorn as my favourite book out of the ongoing series.
Honoured enemy is my next favourite. I believe it was a big contender willAlrin too.

My favourite little cluster of books is the empire trilogy

And my confession.... Magician I found a tad dull to begin, but it was my first ever fantasy book  so it may have been that it took me a while to get into the whole idea of it. But it just was too much detail and long etc. I know it was two books to begin but I still find it off putting if I am looking a reread.
Great question!

Prince of the Blood comes in second for me. It was the first Feist book that I read and I loved it, but I just like the characters in The King's Buccaneer more.

King's Buccaneer is a top book. Would definitely put it in my top 5.

Top 5 is hard to figure out. I've got my top two, but I'm not sure what I would follow it up with. Anything past like Rise of a Merchant Prince is out just because I feel the series started going downhill after that. Speaking of Rise of a Merchant Prince though...

Indeed. I'll have to have a think about it. i think we did a top book survey a while back. not sure if i've ever listed a definitive list on Feist. Which reminds me. "Kik's List" probably needs finishing. Been a few years. terrible effort. Probably changed as well. Was doing it while on a massive nostalgia kick.

Hope we didn't lose you already.

My favorite book is also Silverthorne. But I really enjoyed the empire trilogy and read that more frequently
