Where can I get BAK & RTK?

RTK follows the storyline of Krondor: Tear of the Gods.
Krondor: The Assasins was a bridging novel between the plotlines of the two games and their novel adaptations.

Haven't played RTK...have to pick that up sometime.  Does that follow the storyline of Krondor:  The Assassins?

Krondor: Tear of the Gods follows the story from Return to Krondor. Krondor: The Assassins was written to fill the gab between Krondor: The betrayal and Krondor: Tear of the Gods.

If you have played BaK, RtK will be a big disappointment.

I played BaK long before RtK, and RtK wasn't a disappointment. Of course it was nowhere near as good as BaK, but it was nowhere near a disappointment either.

I started BaK once, but never finished it. Don't believe I ever started it either. I did read the books though. It's difficult to say which one was the best. Not the first, that's for sure. Overall not a too bad story. Nothing great either. If I ever get tempted to play RTK, I want to have finished BaK first.

*points above* What he said!  :jester:

More seriously, REF commented on the free to play games BAK and RTK:

You need a DOS box of some sort or another for Betrayal—the CD version had a Windows loader of some kind built in.  As a Mac guy I found the whole thing very annoying.  They decided there wasn’t enough of a Window market so they built it for DOS, and by the time it shipped,  Windows was all over the place.  You had to buy a nine disc game and take forever to load it, then for many people the configuration to get it to run screwed things up.   They used expanded memory instead of extended, you had to turn off a couple of things, etc.  For Return you need to be able to run older Windows games.

BTW, it’s “free” on a technicality because people uploaded it and at some point someone who held rights said,”We don’t care, we’ll consider it a promotion,” which means even though the license is still in force, my partner Steve and I haven’t see a dime out of either game since 2001.

So it goes in the game business.  Anyway, if you can get it to run, have fun.  I thought it was a pretty cool game.

Best, R.E.F.
